The Truth – Part 1
John 18:37, 38. Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.”
Was Pilate truly seeking to know the truth, or was he just being cynical and contemptuous, or was there a desire to know what no one else was able to tell him? We are all faced with a choice to make a decision of trusting Jesus as being the truth. Jesus says that everyone who hears His voice is of the truth. So if we follow the words of Jesus and apply them in our lives then we demonstrate an action of being in His truth. Jesus says that He came to bear witness to the truth. So I can only believe that every action and step and word that came forth from Jesus is truth and is given as an example of how and in what manner we as Christians should attempt by every means possible to follow.
Mat. 4: 4. But He answered and said, “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
Do we want to be in the truth? Are we willing to trust and lay down our fleshly desires to live in His spirit? I know that when I read the word of God I come across things that Jesus says of how we should live and I am forced to reflect on my shortcomings and I find myself praying for the Lord to help me in these areas. I know that we aren’t going to be perfect but we can recognize are failings and bring them before the Lord of truth and pray for His help. I feel sorry for the Christians in this world who don’t make the time to spend in God’s word. There is so much truth and so many riches of wealth to be found in His word. How can we ever remember it all just reading His word one time through? I know for myself that it is by His word that I grow and recognize the areas in my life that I need to change and develop in His righteousness. Jesus is the truth in every way possible, and if He says it then we should take it to heart and do every thing possible to be a follower of Him. It is by every word, not some words or the ones we choose to hear or even the ones we choose to change to fit our own needs in which we justify our actions to lessen our degree of guilt or conviction.
John 14: 6. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus is the way so why wouldn’t we want to follow Him in every way. He is the truth so why wouldn’t we want to listen and obey His every word. Real life is in Him and apart from Him we will be separated from God the Father for eternity so why wouldn’t we want to live our lives with Him in every part of our life. Jesus shouldn’t take second to any thing that is going on in our lives.
Jesus I pray that You will help us to recognize You as truth and I pray that You will help us to take every word you have spoken and keep these words in our hearts so as to live a more faith filled and righteous life in You. I pray Jesus that we will ask You to be in every part of our lives and we will apply Your truth in our words and our deeds. I thank You Jesus for the cause of Your birth and for coming into the world to be a witness of what is truth. I truly find no fault in You what’s so ever. In Jesus name I pray.
God bless, Kevin (Bud)
