Do you know Him?
Mat. 7:21 -
This is a very powerful portion of scripture. After reading and thinking on this I couldn’t help but to wonder how many of us seek, what seems to be the more prominent position of healing and casting out demons. I wondered how many of us pray for God to bless us with these gifts and we forget the words of Christ when He said in Luke 22:26, But not so among you, on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. Do we ask God to bless us with the gift of serving? Isn’t serving and meeting the needs of people what true Christianity is all about.
I also wonder what do these people believe in? Do they believe in Jesus? If their praying in His name then you would think they must have faith or did they see someone else using the name of Jesus and having their prayers answered so they too did it or were they false teachers trying to confuse the believers. Whatever the case may be the one thing that is sure is they were people who practiced lawlessness. They obviously didn't respect the laws of God and were not interested in seeking His righteousness. To be known by Christ is to receive Him and if Christ is in you then you are a new creation and His righteousness and obeying the laws of God would become very important to you.
What is the will of the Father? John 6: 39 -
Gods will is that none should perish and God provided a way in which this can happen but it is through His Son Jesus. All who come to Jesus will be saved.
So these people to whom Christ didn’t know who were casting out demons and healing the sick, didn’t come to know Christ. They didn’t build a relationship with Him. They had some signs that would have convinced most of us that they were followers of Christ but it wasn’t real. They were faithless toward Jesus but Jesus remained faithful for He cannot deny Himself, 2 Tim. 2:13.
Knowing Christ and following Him is something that should rule our every day life. If He is truly our friend then we should always stand up for Him and His words. We should demonstrate forgiveness and love. We should be eager to serve and we must share the good news of Jesus Christ and the message of the cross with the lost people of this earth.
I want to know Jesus in every way. I want the essence of His nature to fill me and to transform me to His ways. I want to see people healed and delivered from the evil that puts us in bondage but I also want to be willing to serve. I want to declare the love of God to the world and I want to be in line with the Fathers will. I want to seek ye first the Kingdom of heaven and His righteousness and then all these things shall come to pass. Having a relationship with Jesus is the utmost important and most fulfilling decision a person can ever make. Jesus loves us and gave Himself for us, isn’t He worth us giving our lives up for Him. And it’s not like your giving anything up, as a matter of fact, we have everything to gain. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul.
If Jesus is really your friend then walking with Him through life should be no problem. I pray that we don’t get wrapped up in the pride of healing and delivering people from demons and doing many wonders in His name and then try to exalt ourselves to a position as if we had done the works. We can do no good works at all apart from the authority of Jesus our Lord. It is by His supreme authority and the power of His name that every knee will bow and every tongue confess. Remember, the works of God will be accomplished by whatever means God so chooses to use and there may be times when He will use people who don’t know Him, but don’t be one of those people. Build your relationship with God by allowing Him to be your Lord.
Mat. 7:24-
The house that is built on the sand won't just fall it will completely collapse In this life and the one to come it will be an eternal destruction. Invite Jesus into your life and follow the words of the mighty Creator and build your house on the Rock.
Father, I pray that we seek a relationship with You by knowing who You are and becoming followers of Your way. I pray that we recognize ourselves as sinners and confess our need for your forgiveness in our lives. I pray that we will invite You into our hearts and allow You to transform us into Your righteousness. Help us to be willing to lay down our lives, no matter the cost, for the growth of Your kingdom. Help us to know You and to be known by You.
God bless, Kevin
